Instrumentation Coordinator

General Summary:                                                                                                             

Under the direction of the Soy Operations Manager and the Maintenance Superintendent, this position is responsible for analyzing, troubleshooting, and recommending solutions to plant instrumentation process problems, and ensuring the safe operation of the electrical and instrumentation departments.

A secondary responsibility includes, but is not limited to, performing and/or supervising plant maintenance, as assigned.

 Essential Job Functions:                                                                                 

1.      Troubleshoots and helps correct computer software and hardware, programmable logic controller, mechanical system, electrical control system, and instrument control system problems.

 

2.      Schedule calibrations and inspections of electrical and instrumentation (E/I) equipment with written documentation.  Perform all electrical maintenance in compliance with prescribed guidelines and procedures.

 

3.      Coordinates projects with outside contractors and management staff.  Coordinates day to day operations with management staff to ensure minimal downtime.

 

4.      Establish and develop written training programs for the applicable maintenance and operation of all electrical and instrumentation equipment.  Trains plant staff on instruments control system, electrical control system and software programs.

 

5.      Installs and sets hardware and software configurations.

 

6.      Recommend projects and procedures for the reduction of maintenance and operating cost.

Summary:

 

The Maintenance Manager will be responsible for ensuring that proper maintenance of the structures, equipment, and grounds of the crushing and refining and biodiesel areas as well as all related and supporting components is completed.  This position will work with the Plant Manager, Plant Engineer, and other Operations Management as a team to coordinate and discuss plans to maximize plant performance.  Additionally, the Maintenance Manager is in charge of supervising, coordinating, and supporting the plant maintenance employees and contractors to achieve safe, efficient completion of the workload.  This position is also accountable for developing preventative and proactive maintenance schedules for crushing, refining and biodiesel equipment.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Safety:  Develop, promote and enforce safety in the workplace by actively demanding employees and contractors to work safely by setting and personally demonstrating safe work habits.
  • Day-to-day supervision of maintenance employees, including determining workloads and schedules, implementing and interpreting policies and procedures, evaluation and training staff, approving and making hiring and termination recommendations.  Responsible for performance management of all direct reports.
  • Ensure that all plant policies are implemented and followed.
  • Develop a preventative and proactive maintenance schedule for crushing and refining and biodiesel equipment which is complete and effective in maximizing equipment reliability through the utilization of the CMMS system.

  • Confer with management, engineering, operations and quality control personnel to resolve maintenance problems and recommend measures to improve operations and conditions of machines and equipment.  Execute plans and work assignments to completion.

  • Utilize methods for improving equipment reliability, such as failure analysis, etc.

Qualifications:

The Operations Manager will be responsible for production of animal feed ingredients at contract manufacturing locations primarily in the United States.
